These new images, taken from as close as 17,000 miles, revealed that this object is a “contact binary,” consisting of two connected spheres. End to end, Ultima Thule measures 19 miles in length. The team has dubbed the larger sphere “Ultima” and the smaller sphere “Thule”. The team says that the two spheres likely joined as early as 99 percent of the way back to the formation of the solar system, colliding no faster than two cars in a fender-bender. Meet #UltimaThule! After flying by the most distant object ever explored, our New Horizons spacecraft beamed back the first pictures and science data. These new images, taken from as close as 17,000 miles, revealed that this object is a “contact binary,” consisting of two connected spheres. End to end, Ultima Thule measures 19 miles in length. The team has dubbed the larger sphere “Ultima” and the smaller sphere “Thule”. The team says that the two spheres likely joined as early as 99 percent of the way back to the formation of the solar system, colliding no faster than two cars in a fender-bender. It likely formed over time as a rotating cloud of small, icy bodies started to combine. Eventually, 2 larger bodies remained and slowly spiraled closer until they touched, forming the bi-lobed object we see today. 
Studying Ultima Thule is helping us understand how planets form — both those in our own solar system and those orbiting other stars in our galaxy. Data from the New Year's Day flyby will continue to arrive over the next weeks and months, with much higher resolution images yet to come.

Neptune is never visible to the naked eye from Earth.  Neptune is the only planet in the Solar System that was discovered by mathematical prediction rather than physical observation.  Using a mathematical equation to predict where Neptune would be, Neptune was observed for the first time with a telescope in 1846.  Its largest moon, Triton, was discovered shortly after, though none of the planet's remaining known 13 moons were located telescopically until the 20th century. .

Neptune was visited by Voyager 2, when it flew by the planet on 25 August 1989.  Above you will find two photographs taken by the Voyager 2 during its flyby of the Neptune system.  Triton (pictured above) is one of only three objects in the Solar System known to have a nitrogen-dominated atmosphere (the others are Earth and Saturn's giant moon, Titan). .

حلقه ای قرص مانند از اجرام که در ماورای مدار نپتون در فاصله ۳۰ تا۴۰ واحدنجومی و تقریبا در صفحه منظومه شمسی بدور خورشید می چرخند(توجه داشته باشید که منطقه ابر اورت منطقه ای کروی است). این اجرام از مواد یخی تشکیل شده و منشا اصلی دنباله دارها با دوره تناوب کوتاه (با دوره تناوب کمتر از ۲۰۰ سال) به شمار می رونددرحالیکه ابر اورت منشاء دنباله دارهای با دوره بلند است. تصور بر این است که گروهی از سیارکها با نام سیارکهای سنتور که مدار آنها بین مشتری و نپتون است نیز تحت تاثیر سیاره نپتون احتمالا به این منطقه آمده باشند. اگر این سیارکهای یخی به مناطق درونی منظومه شمسی نزدیک شوند میتوانند به دنباله دارهایی فوق العاده درخشان تبدیل شوند.

حلقه‌های مشابه کوییپر تا به حال در اطراف ۹ ستاره تشخیص داده شده‌اند . وجود این حلقه ها ارتباط مستقیمی با تشکیل سیارات در یک منظومه‌ی ستاره ای دارد. وجود لبه های تیز بیرونی در یک کمربند باریک (مانند کمربند کوییپر) نشان دهنده ی وجود همدمی ستاره مانند برای ستاره‌ی اصلی است که به طور مداوم، لبه ی بیرونی کمربند را تمیز می کند. درست مانند تاثیر اقمار بر لبه های حلقه‌های زحل و اورانوس.

این اجرام یخی هر از چند مدتی تحت تاثیر گرانش سیارات بزرگ منظومه شمسی به‌ویژه مشتری به مناطق درونی منظومه رانده شده و بخاطر نور وحرارت خورشید شروع به بخار شدن کرده و مانند دنباله دار در آسمان ظاهر می شوند. در سال ١٩٩٢ اخترشناسان نقطه سرخ رنگ کوچکی را در ٤٢ واحد نجومی خورشید تشخیص دادند؛ اولین جرم دیده شده در کمربند کوییپر. از آن سال تاکنون بیش از ١٠٠٠ جرم در این کمربند شناخته شده است. اجرام کمربند کوییپر بسیار دور هستند و به همین علت اندازه‌گیری ابعاد آنها کاری دشوار است.

اندازه ای که برای آنها تخمین زده می‌شود، به ارتباط میان میزان درخشندگی سطحی آنها و اندازه شان وابسته است. برای اندازه‌گیری اندازه بنابر میزان درخشندگی، دانشمندان درصد بازتاب نور خورشید را از سطح جرم اندازه می گیرند، به این عدد ضریب بازتاب سطحی (آلبدو) می گویند.

Tata Surya terbagi menjadi Matahari, empat planet bagian dalam, sabuk asteroid, empat planet bagian luar, dan di bagian terluar adalah Sabuk Kuiper dan piringan tersebar. Awan Oortdiperkirakan terletak di daerah terjauh yang berjarak sekitar seribu kali di luar bagian yang terluar.

Berdasarkan jaraknya dari Matahari, kedelapan planet Tata Surya ialah Merkurius (57,9 juta km), Venus (108 juta km), Bumi (150 juta km), Mars(228 juta km), Yupiter (779 juta km), Saturnus(1.430 juta km), Uranus (2.880 juta km), dan Neptunus (4.500 juta km). Meet #UltimaThule! After flying by the most distant object ever explored, our New Horizons spacecraft beamed back the first pictures and science data. These new images, taken from as close as 17,000 miles, revealed that this object is a “contact binary,” consisting of two connected spheres. End to end, Ultima Thule measures 19 miles in length. The team has dubbed the larger sphere “Ultima” and the smaller sphere “Thule”. The team says that the two spheres likely joined as early as 99 percent of the way back to the formation of the solar system, colliding no faster than two cars in a fender-bender. It likely formed over time as a rotating cloud of small, icy bodies started to combine. Eventually, 2 larger bodies remained and slowly spiraled closer until they touched, forming the bi-lobed object we see today. 
Studying Ultima Thule is helping us understand how planets form — both those in our own solar system and those orbiting other stars in our galaxy. Data from the New Year's Day flyby will continue to arrive over the next weeks and months, with much higher resolution images yet to come.

Di bagian utara akan mengalami musim panas, sedangkan bagian selatan akan mengalami musim dingin. Pada saat terjadinya fenomena ini, bumi memiliki kemiringan sampai 23,7 derajat.

Istilah ini dikenal karena keberadaan Matahari di titik paling utara menandai berlangsungnya siang yang panjang di belahan Utara atau malam terpendek sepanjang tahun. Pada saat itu, Matahari tidak akan terbit tepat di timur tetapi agak lebih ke utara dari arah timur dan akan terbenam juga lebih ke utara dari arah barat. Tapi bagi masyarakat belahan Selatan, keberadaan Matahari di atas khatulistiwa merupakan titik balik musim dingin yang menandai peralihan musim gugur ke musim dingin dan mereka akan mengalami hari terpanjang sepanjang tahun.

Di saat fenomena ini terjadi, kutub utara tidak akan mengalami matahari tenggelam, sedangkan kutub selatan tidak akan mengalami matahari terbit.

Pluto was discovered by Clyde Tombaugh in 1930 and was originally considered to be the ninth planet from the Sun.  In 2005, Eris, a dwarf planet which is 27% more massive than Pluto, was discovered. This led the International Astronomical Union (IAU) to define the term "planet" formally in 2006, during their 26th General Assembly. That definition excluded Pluto and reclassified it as a dwarf planet.

This enhanced color image of Pluto was taken by NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft as it passed through the Pluto system on July 14, 2015.

A whole new world! The first color image of Ultima Thule, taken at a distance of 85,000 miles (137,000 kilometers) at 4:08 Universal Time on January 1, 2019, highlights its reddish surface. At left is an enhanced color image taken by the Multispectral Visible Imaging Camera (MVIC), produced by combining the near infrared, red and blue channels. The center image taken by the Long-Range Reconnaissance Imager (LORRI) has a higher spatial resolution than MVIC by approximately a factor of five. How amazing is this image?  As we celebrated New Year's about 25 mins. after, NASA celebrated New Horizons' succesful flyby and image capture of Ultima Thule past Pluto on the Kuiper Belt.  As if frozen in time depicting the process of planetary formation, this image seems as important and pivotal to me as the first Earthrise captured by the Apollo 8 mission 50 years ago on Christmas Eve.  I made sure to show Christian the PBS special on it 'Pluto and Beyond' detailing the nearly 13 year journey which started a few weeks before he was born so that he could understand the importance of it, and also showed him the special on Earthrise.  Moments like these depict some of the most wonderful things we can accomplish as humans guided by our eternal quest for new frontiers and the understanding of all that surrounds us.

Ultima Thule, which means "beyond the known world" is located at the Kuiper belt with a distance of 6.5 billion kilometers from the Sun. This tiny world is about 30 kilometers in size. Current mission of New Horizons on Ultima Thule will be the close up image of this distant world.
