Iguazu Falls

Taller than Niagara Falls and wider than Victoria Falls, Iguazu Falls are the larger system of waterfall in the world.
Shared between Argentina and Brazil in both their UNESCO designated national parks (Iguazu National Park and Iguacu National Park), they split into approximately 275 distinct waterfalls (80% of them in Argentina, 20% in Brazil).
They are 2700 meters wide, and the hight of all individual falls vary between 60 and 82 meters.

The footpaths on the Brazilian side tend to focus more on reaching good vantage points to see the panorama, whilst the Argentinean side allows to see the waterfalls up-close.
It is said that the Brazilian side is for viewing the falls and the Argentinean side is for experiencing them.

Is it wrong to say I miss winter? I’m super happy to be living in a place with a MUCH milder climate, to the point where I can’t even remember if we’ve had a 100 degree day, but man I miss the chilling cold of winter. Mostly because I look cutest in winter clothes. 💁🏻‍♀️ #throwback

Shack on the beach, would suit a simple soul who enjoys being at one with nature and solitude, ocean views and great fish restaurant nearby. When can I move in?!

Log 3 // The Lake District, Part I // We woke in Bowness-on-Windermere, enjoyed a ‘full English breakfast’ of poached egg, hash brown, mushrooms, baked beans, sausage (veggie fritter of sorts for me), toast, and tea. Bright-eyed, we waited outside for our ride, but when it still hadn’t arrived by 5 past the designated time, I worried that we‘d miss our tour and chance of following the footsteps of Beatrix Potter among the lands she loved so much. To our relief, our driver appeared at the very last moment and whisked us away up the hill to the station just in time to meet our minibus!
.
Accompanied by our guide, driver, and a familial quartet from Australia, we began the day winding our way through green hills coated with brackens and what I can only describe as forests of fern. 🌿 As we drove along, listening to our knowledgeable guide, I eagerly added in new details to what I’d learned previously.
.
Potter was an illustrator, author, botanist, conservationist, environmentalist, strategic businesswoman, shepherdess, and inspiringly forward-thinking feminist. Though born into a wealthy family, she had no money of her own. Her mother expected her to adhere to the societal expectations of her station, but Beatrix was determined to find a way to independence while pursuing her many curiosities. Since childhood, she’d loved animals and spent much of her time in the nursery drawing and painting woodland flora and fauna. Her keen interest in plants led her to apply to the Royal Botanic Gardens of Kew to become a botanist, but she was rejected because she was a woman.
.
Before long, we arrived to Wray Castle at Claife where the Potter family visited when she was 16 years old and first became enamored with the Lake District that she‘d later work so hard to preserve. The property overlooked a sweeping hillside, peacefully roaming sheep, and a glimpse of the lake nestled between a window in the trees. It was easy to imagine her first impressions as we gazed at the view, much unchanged. 🌳
.
We made our way to Ambleside for a story-filled walk around the village hamlet where she lived after paving a way for herself. {more tidbits to come}

May 2019 / Canada / Coastal scenes

Back from a week-long mindfulness retreat and now relaxing with my girlfriends family in their home in the southwest of France.
I can now continue with my Canada posts :) The Wild Coast Trail in Ucluelet was a highlight on Vancouver Island for me; lush green vegetation, and deep blues crashing against the rigid rocks!
Reminiscent of the Calanques ?
Have a nice day! •

Silenzio.
Sali e scendi continuo.
E circa 100... anzi 1000 sfumature di verde.

It is the greatest of all tragedies. I am not a god.
