There are different ways to experience Hoi An: strolling through the streets at night with glowing lanterns floating down river, cycling around the outskirts and down to the beach or dropping by a cafe to have Vietnamese coffee and see how time stands still in this charming little town. When it comes to coffee shops, the rooftop at Faifo Coffee is a great choice. Make your way to this rooftop to discover Hoi An from another perspective, because sometimes, you should stand back and take a look at the whole picture to find out how each and every single piece plays its part in the mosaic."

Photo by @wanderchu โ€œ Beautiful Hoi An lit up with colourful lanterns everynight ๐Ÿฎโœจ
These lantern stalls are usually flocked with tourists for photography. Iโ€™ve seen influencers commenting and judging that the sellers are always rude for not allowing photography.
My recent experience was, I saw signs at the stalls stating charges for pictures - 1 USD for one person, which I think is fair, and so I paid. However, I witnessed many tourists who ignored the signs, either secretly โ€˜stoleโ€™ shots when no one was watching or bluntly went on snapping photos ignoring the stall owners who were asking them to pay. It was disrespectful.
To be fair, itโ€™s understandable why they are against photography as these are places for business afterall. If you are not buying any lanterns from them, why not have the courtesy to pay/tip them? It doesnโ€™t actually cost much to be nice, ask for permissions, and take photos with respect, donโ€™t you agree? ๐Ÿ“ธ โ€œ
