I dont really understand how European people are this much proud of the archeological things that they stole from the Middle East in the world wars. It's not your cultural heritage at all. It has no difference between a thief showing the jewellery in a exhibition that he stole from some people

When are you going to give it back?

Hate seeing such negative comments regarding the fact this is in Britain. The British Museum is one of the world's finest museums where experts preserve, study and display these fantastic artifacts. Not to mention fundraising and the millions spent on setting up these displays. I'm not any sort of colonialist, but if any of us want these magnificent pieces of history maintained, secured and shown to the world then I couldn't think of a better place for them. The whole world should learn who the Assyrians are. So underappreciated! I may be wrong but I have the feeling that museums in Iraq or the greater middle East wouldn't be willing to spend that same degree of money to preserve and secure these items. And even if they did, they'd be in such a hard to access region of the world, that how many people would get to marvel at the life of Ashurbanipal? If you want these artifacts to last as long as they can, and you want the whole world to know of the fascinating history of the Assyrian people, then I couldn't think of a better home than at the British Museum. Cue the haters...

Yes, it's fascinating. Esp. liked the use of atmospheric music and spotlights to tell the story of one major battle.

Another great exhib then grabbed a rug -bargain- from the shop. It did Ashur BP proud but I think he would have liked more emphasis on lion hunting & enemy flaying.

Fabulous exhibit 🌟

Yes I have, and I loved it. I had to come a second time because my brain was full two thirds of the way round on the first occasion.

It was excellent. It’s fantastic to learn about how they are trying to save artefacts from destruction. The training programme is an excellent idea.

Stunning exhibition - I've been twice. Great to see how the BM is helping with restoration of the sites destroyed recently too.
